Top Toys for Christmas 2011
48Top Toys for Christmas 2010
Christmas is fast approaching and the top toys for Christmas 2011 are flying off the shelf.
It's hard to believe that the very first "Top Christmas Toys" list appeared in 1829, nearly 2 centurires ago. Surprisingly, though, some of the toys on that long ago list are still sure bets for a happy Christmas morning.
Wondering what toys made the list so long ago? The list included:
- Doll - No matter how many years go by, dolls are ALWAYS going to be top selling toys for Christmas. They may change styles, but this is a little girl favorite. Usually, you cannot go wrong with this choice.
- Slate (think Etch a Sketch predecessor) - Well, I guess if you think about it, the slate is the primitive predecessor to the Etch a Sketch (appropriate gift for the younger set). And if you stretch your imagination far enough, you will even be able to see how this primitive toy also preceded the computer (think gifts for teenagers)
- Ball - Balls are like dolls. Virtually everyone loves games and many times, some type of ball is involved. Like the doll, you probably will not go wrong with this gift choice even today.
- Sled - For kids who live in colder regions, a sled is still an appropriate gift.
- Hoop and Stick - I bet you think that I would have to think hard to relate this to today's kids, but you'd be wrong. Ever seen your kid roll a modern day hula hoop with a stick? Ha! There you go - a modern day version of the hoop and stick.
